Julia Martina
Julia 'Martina' Penn is a german saxophonist based in NYC.Born into a musical family Julia started playing classical piano at the age of 5 and saxophone at age 12.Soon she discovered her lasting love for improvised music and jazz. At 18 she staretd working with Chicago born singer/songwriter Marla Glen, a deciple of Nina Simone, touring from 2000 to 2006, playing most of the main stages in Europe. Parallel she earned a diploma in Jazz saxophone and education from 'Musikhochschule Mannheim' in 2007. Sine 2007 Julia regularly visited NYC under the wings of Harry Whitaker. Besides Harry she studied with George Garzone, Ralph LaLama, Mark Turner, Donny McCaslin, Billy K and Richie Beirach. Julia has been playing and touring worldwide with DJs since 2010 while persuing a career in jazz in NYC. She travelled the world as a performer and educator ( Australia, Canada, Dubai, USA, Europe, Israel, England, Indonesia ) for clients like Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Habsburg Designer, LOF, Caterpillar, The Clinton Foundation and Dubai's Sheik, just to name a few.
